GSB Finance Ltd reported a loss of Rs 29.69 lakhs in Q2 FY26 (quarter ended Sep 30, 2025), compared to a profit of Rs 51.80 lakhs in Q2 FY25. Revenue from operations fell sharply to Rs 31.62 lakhs from Rs 74.36 lakhs a year ago, mainly because last year included a one-time gain of Rs 41.46 lakhs on fair valuation of financial instruments, which did not recur this quarter. Total expenses jumped to Rs 61.09 lakhs from Rs 19.36 lakhs, driven by an impairment charge of Rs 26.80 lakhs on financial instruments and higher employee and other costs. For the half-year, the company posted a loss of Rs 18.71 lakhs versus a profit of Rs 69.09 lakhs in H1 FY25. Basic EPS turned negative at Rs (0.49) for the quarter and Rs (0.31) for the half-year.
The sharp swing into losses, caused largely by a non-recurring fair-value gain disappearing and an impairment on financial instruments, is a negative signal for shareholders. Investors should watch whether loan-book growth (up to Rs 1,290.77 lakhs from Rs 1,271.57 lakhs) translates into sustainable interest income to return to profitability.
