Gujarat Themis Biosyn reported a weak Q1 FY26 with total income of ₹3,614.72 lakhs, down about 8% from ₹3,935.17 lakhs in Q1 FY25. Net profit fell sharply to ₹906.16 lakhs from ₹1,323.62 lakhs, a decline of roughly 31.5% year-on-year, with EPS dropping to ₹0.83 from ₹1.21. On the positive side, the company started commercial production at its new multi-purpose synthetic and fermentation-based API plant at Vapi on May 5, 2025, which is expected to support future growth and exports to the US and Europe. The Board also decided to drop the previously announced merger with Themis Medicare Limited, choosing instead to focus on its core fermentation-based pharma intermediates and APIs business. Additionally, the record date for the FY25 dividend was set as September 5, 2025, and Mr. Nihar Parikh joins as a new Independent Director replacing Mr. Siddharth Kusumgar who is retiring after his second term.
Near-term financials are soft with a notable YoY drop in both revenue and profit, which may weigh on the stock in the short term. However, the new API plant kicking off commercial production, focus on the core fermentation business, and an upcoming dividend could be positives for longer-term shareholders.
