HB Portfolio Ltd reported audited FY25 results on 26 May 2025. Standalone revenue from operations fell sharply to Rs. 1,492.31 lakhs from Rs. 3,756.80 lakhs in FY24, a drop of about 60%. The company swung to a standalone loss of Rs. 76.98 lakhs (from a profit of Rs. 138.57 lakhs), with Q4 FY25 alone posting a loss of Rs. 231.20 lakhs. A big drag was a Rs. 206.14 lakhs net loss on fair value changes of investments shown as a separate expense line. Consolidated revenue declined to Rs. 2,784.02 lakhs (from Rs. 5,401.71 lakhs), and consolidated profit turned marginally negative at Rs. (4.31) lakhs vs Rs. 702.50 lakhs last year, hurt partly by a Rs. 24.95 lakhs share of loss from associate Merwanjee Securities. Despite losses, reserves remain healthy at Rs. 21,511.91 lakhs standalone, operating cashflows were positive (Rs. 685.23 lakhs standalone, Rs. 831.97 lakhs consolidated), and the statutory auditor N.C. Aggarwal & Co. issued an unmodified opinion. A final dividend of Rs. 1 per share was declared for FY25.
Sharp revenue fall and swing to losses, largely driven by mark-to-market investment losses, are negative signals for near-term earnings and could weigh on the stock. However, strong reserves of over Rs. 21,500 lakhs, very low debt, positive operating cashflows, and a clean audit opinion provide a cushion for shareholders.
