SEBI has passed an Ex-Parte Interim Order cum Show Cause Notice on June 17, 2025 against HB Stockholdings Limited and its Promoter & Executive Chairman Mr. Lalit Bhasin. The order alleges violations of Section 12A of the SEBI Act and the PFUTP (Prohibition of Fraudulent and Unfair Trade Practices) Regulations. SEBI has directed impounding of ₹2.42 crore as alleged unlawful gains, to be kept in a lien-marked fixed deposit. The company has been restrained from accessing the securities market, barred from buying, selling or dealing in securities, and its bank and demat accounts have been frozen (no debits allowed except into the SEBI lien FD). The company has also been told not to dispose of or alienate any assets and must submit a full inventory of all assets within 15 days.
This is a negative development — the company faces a market access ban, frozen bank and demat accounts, and an asset-freeze-like restriction pending SEBI's final order. The company says there is no material financial impact, but the disruption to operations and ongoing regulatory action could weigh on the stock and shareholder sentiment in the near term.
