Hikal Limited reported weak Q1 FY26 results with standalone revenue from operations falling to Rs 3,804 million from Rs 4,068 million in the same quarter last year, a decline of about 6.5%. The company swung to a standalone loss before tax of Rs 307 million (vs profit of Rs 70 million in Q1 FY25) and a loss after tax of Rs 227 million (vs profit of Rs 52 million), translating to an EPS of Rs (1.84). Consolidated results also showed a loss after tax of Rs 224 million. The Pharmaceuticals segment saw revenue fall sharply to Rs 2,026 million (from Rs 2,294 million) and posted a segment loss of Rs 261 million, while the Crop Protection segment remained roughly flat at Rs 1,778 million with a profit of Rs 173 million. Auditor SRBC & Co LLP issued an unmodified limited review conclusion but highlighted as an emphasis of matter the ongoing environmental non-compliance case pending before the Supreme Court involving potential compensation of Rs 174.5 million.
Shareholders should brace for a negative market reaction given the sharp swing from profit to loss, double-digit percentage drop in profit metrics, and weakness in the core pharmaceuticals business. The unresolved environmental case continues to be a regulatory overhang, though the Supreme Court has stayed the compensation order for now.
