HCC reported standalone turnover of ~Rs 1,069 crore in Q1 FY26, down about 15.5% from ~Rs 1,265.7 crore in Q1 FY25. Despite the revenue dip, standalone net profit jumped ~70% to ~Rs 38.6 crore from ~Rs 22.8 crore, helped by better operating margins (14.9% vs 12.6%). On a consolidated basis, profit was ~Rs 50.7 crore versus a small loss last year, though revenue is not comparable due to the divestment of Steiner AG. The order book stood at ~Rs 11,188 crore, with the company emerging as lowest bidder for ~Rs 6,079 crore of new projects and a bid pipeline of ~Rs 40,000 crore.
Strong profit growth and margin expansion signal improving operational efficiency, even as top-line slipped. The auditor flagged qualifications on the recoverability of ~Rs 1,159 crore investment in subsidiary HICL and ~Rs 195.83 crore deferred tax assets, plus an emphasis-of-matter on ~Rs 513 crore of disputed receivables, which could weigh on investor sentiment despite robust order inflows.
