HUL's September-quarter turnover was Rs 18,071 crore, with underlying sales up 15% and volume growth of 7%. Profit after tax excluding one-off items rose 9% to Rs 2,795 crore. Operating margin fell 1.4 points to 22.6% as elevated input costs cut gross margin by about 4 points. The board approved a Rs 19 interim dividend. Management expects medium-term operating margin of 22% to 24% and gross-margin improvement over three to five years.
Strong volume-led growth supports the stock, but elevated commodity costs and a 4-point gross-margin decline may limit near-term earnings gains.
