Hindusthan Udyog Ltd reported standalone Q2 FY26 net profit of Rs. 641.96 lakhs versus Rs. 606.50 lakhs in Q2 FY25, while H1 FY26 PAT stood at Rs. 669.63 lakhs (vs Rs. 577.68 lakhs in H1 FY25). Revenue from operations was zero, confirming the company functions as an investment holding entity. Other income of Rs. 947.57 lakhs in Q2 included a Rs. 807.33 lakhs dividend from associate company WPIL Ltd, which drives most of the profit. On a consolidated basis, Q2 FY26 PAT was Rs. 1,639.51 lakhs (vs Rs. 2,374.23 lakhs in Q2 FY25, a decline of about 31%), while H1 FY26 PAT fell around 35% to Rs. 2,596.97 lakhs from Rs. 3,977.51 lakhs, primarily due to lower share of profit from associates. The auditor (Salarpuria & Partners) issued an unqualified limited review report, and no exceptional items were reported.
Shareholders should note that profits are heavily dependent on dividends and earnings from associate companies rather than operating business, and consolidated earnings have weakened year-on-year. The negative operating cash flow indicates day-to-day operations are not self-sustaining, making future dividend income from WPIL and other associates critical for results.
