IIFL Home Finance (material subsidiary) got a tax demand of ₹963.39 crore from Income Tax Authority under block assessment (search and seizure for April 2018 to Feb 2025). Key disallowances include ORC income (about ₹490 cr), section 36(1)(viii) (about ₹305 cr), interest strip (about ₹392 cr), and ESOP (about ₹53 cr). Company will appeal and expects no material impact. Meanwhile, IIFL Finance's earlier ₹475.56 cr demand received stay till Dec 31, 2026, against paying 5% (₹23.78 cr) in installments—₹5 cr already paid on Aug 13.
Large tax demand on subsidiary adds uncertainty, though company says it has strong grounds to contest. Stay on parent demand is positive. Watch appellate outcome.
