The Ministry of Finance, via a notification dated June 19, 2025, has imposed anti-dumping duty on imports of Pretilachlor (a herbicide) and its intermediate PEDA originating in or exported from China. The duty will remain in force for five years and ranges from USD 1,246.9 to USD 2,017.9 per metric ton, depending on the Chinese producer. The duty was recommended after an investigation found that Chinese imports were being dumped at below-normal prices, causing material injury to the Indian domestic industry. India Pesticides, a domestic manufacturer of Pretilachlor, is expected to benefit from this measure as it levels the playing field against cheaper Chinese imports.
Positive for India Pesticides Limited. The anti-dumping duty will protect the company's domestic market share and pricing power in Pretilachlor for the next five years, supporting revenue and margins. The stock may see a positive reaction given the direct benefit to the company's core product line.
