Indian Hume Pipe Company reported FY2025-26 revenue from operations of Rs 1,305.57 crore, down 12.45% from Rs 1,491.23 crore in FY2024-25, due to extended monsoon and elongated billing cycles in Jal Jeevan Mission and Bhagiratha projects. Despite lower revenue, EBITDA margin expanded by 152 basis points to 14.60% (from 13.08%), driven by stronger demand for manufacturing products which grew 28% year-over-year. Net profit declined to Rs 141.11 crore from Rs 558.05 crore, largely because the previous year included exceptional items of Rs 545.22 crore from land monetization versus Rs 64.33 crore this year. The company reduced working capital borrowing by Rs 14.93 crore and generated treasury income of Rs 42.22 crore. Credit ratings were upgraded and an order book of Rs 4,118.97 crore provides future revenue visibility.
Revenue decline of 12.45% is a concern, but margin expansion, reduced debt, and robust order book signal operational strength. The significant drop in net profit is primarily due to lower exceptional items from asset monetization, not operational weakness. The special dividend (Rs 3 per share) for the company's 100th anniversary is a positive signal for shareholders.
