ICRA has upgraded InterGlobe Aviation Limited's (IndiGo) long-term issuer credit rating and long-term credit rating on bank facilities from [ICRA]AA- to [ICRA]AA with a Stable outlook. The short-term rating of [ICRA]A1+ has been reaffirmed. The total bank loan facilities rated stand at Rs. 9,000 crore. ICRA cited comfortable credit metrics, the company's market-leading scale (63% domestic market share), extensive network, low-cost positioning, steady yields, and strong cash flow generation. In FY2025, IndiGo reported revenue of Rs. 80,803 crore (up 17% YoY) and held free cash of approximately Rs. 33,153 crore. The upgrade reflects confidence in the company's continued strong financial and operational performance, though leverage is expected to tick up due to a shift toward finance leases for new aircraft.
This is a positive development for shareholders, signaling improved creditworthiness and lower borrowing risk. A higher credit rating typically translates into lower future borrowing costs for the company and reflects strong fundamentals, which may support investor confidence and the stock's valuation.
