JPVL posted Q1 FY27 revenue of Rs 1,776 crores (up 12% YoY from Rs 1,583 crores) and net profit of Rs 469 crores (up 69% YoY). EPS rose to Rs 0.52 from Rs 0.31. The company booked a Rs 194 crore exceptional loss for surrendering two coal mines (Amelia North and Bandha North). The auditor issued a qualified review report, flagging non-provisioning on a Rs 1,239 crore corporate guarantee related to associate JAL, and a Rs 5,697 crore lender recompense claim.
Strong profit growth is positive, but qualified audit opinion, coal mine exit, and large contingent liabilities from DMG sand mining notices may weigh on sentiment.
