JSW Dulux (formerly Akzo Nobel India) has updated the exchanges on a pending GST dispute with the Telangana GST Department. The original order dated 2 September 2024 raised a demand of about Rs. 1.51 crore for FY 2020-21 and 2021-22, relating to disallowance of input tax credit under Section 73 of the CGST/SGST Act. The company filed an appeal, and the Additional Commissioner (Appeals-II), Hyderabad issued an appeal order on 26 February 2026 (received 13 March 2026), which marginally reduced the demand to Rs. 1.50 crore. The company is preparing to make further submissions to contest the order within the allowed timeframe.
This is a routine tax dispute update with a relatively small financial impact (around Rs. 1.5 crore) compared to the company's size. The marginal reduction in the demand is mildly positive, but since the matter is still being contested, it is not yet fully resolved and is unlikely to materially affect the stock price.
