JSW Energy successfully completed a ₹4,000 crore Qualified Institutions Placement (QIP), issuing 76.19 million equity shares at ₹525 per share (including a 1.69% discount to floor price). The QIP attracted strong demand from marquee global and domestic investors including SBI Equity Hybrid Fund (48.4% of issue), GQG Partners Emerging Markets Equity Fund (24.1%), Blackrock, and leading insurance companies. Many investors had previously participated in JSW Energy's earlier equity raise, indicating continued confidence. The paid-up capital increased from ₹1,757 crore to ₹1,833 crore. Proceeds combined with recent promoter preferential allotment and JSW Steel share monetization will strengthen the balance sheet and enable deleveraging.
This QIP improves JSW Energy's capital structure and reduces net leverage, positioning it as one of the most robustly capitalised independent power producers in India. The participation of marquee investors like GQG and Blackrock signals strong institutional confidence in the company's 30 GW capacity target by 2030.
