JSW Energy's settlement proposal to resolve the debt of KSK Water Infrastructures Private Limited (KWIPL) has been approved by the Committee of Creditors (CoC). KWIPL is a company in which JSW Energy holds indirect ownership through its recently acquired subsidiary, KSK Mahanadi Power Company Limited (KMPCL). The CoC has also approved the withdrawal of the ongoing corporate insolvency resolution process (CIRP) against KWIPL. However, the final closure of the transaction and formal withdrawal of the insolvency process is still subject to approval from the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT).
This is a positive development for JSW Energy as it moves closer to fully resolving a legacy insolvency issue tied to its KMPCL acquisition, reducing legal and financial uncertainty. Shareholders should watch for the NCLT approval as the next key milestone before the deal is fully closed.
