JSW Infrastructure has been assigned its first issuer rating by S&P Global Ratings — an investment grade rating of 'BBB-' with a Stable Outlook. The company, India's second-largest private commercial port operator and part of the JSW Group, runs 12 port concessions along India's west and east coasts. The rating recognises JSWIL's strong cash flows, healthy balance sheet, and resilient business model. The company plans to scale cargo handling capacity from the current 177 mtpa to 400 mtpa by FY2030, backed by a ₹30,000 crore capex plan plus ₹9,000 crore earmarked for logistics expansion including the recent Navkar acquisition. Management expects the investment grade tag to lower the cost of capital and broaden access to global debt markets.
A BBB- investment grade rating should help JSW Infrastructure raise cheaper debt internationally, supporting its ambitious growth plans without straining leverage. For shareholders, this is a clear vote of confidence in the company's financial health and creditworthiness.
