Infomerics Valuation and Rating Ltd has downgraded Kanoria Energy & Infrastructure's credit ratings on its bank facilities. Long-term facilities of Rs. 99.99 Crore were cut from IVR BBB-/Negative to IVR BB+/Stable, and short-term facilities of Rs. 30 Crore were cut from IVR A3 to IVR A4+. The total rated facilities stand at Rs. 129.99 Crore, reduced from Rs. 136.19 Crore earlier. The downgrade was based on the company's operational and financial performance for FY25 (audited) and Q2-FY26. While the rating was lowered, the outlook on the long-term rating was improved from Negative to Stable, suggesting the agency does not expect further immediate deterioration.
This is a negative signal for shareholders — the company has slipped from investment grade into speculative grade, which could raise future borrowing costs and signal weakening financial health. However, the outlook shift from Negative to Stable provides some comfort that the agency views the risk as stabilising rather than worsening further.
