Kansai Nerolac Paints reported standalone revenue of Rs 7,739 crore for FY26, up 3.2% from Rs 7,497 crore in FY25. However, profit after tax dropped significantly to Rs 620 crore from Rs 1,021 crore last year—a decline of about 39%. The company recorded exceptional items totaling Rs 61 crore including Rs 45 crore for new labour code provisions and Rs 10 crore loss from a warehouse fire at Ghaziabad. EPS fell to Rs 7.67 from Rs 12.63 previously. The Board recommended a dividend of 250% (Rs 2.50 per share), compared to 375% (including special dividend) last year. Auditors issued an unmodified opinion confirming clean books.
The sharp decline in profitability despite modest revenue growth is concerning for shareholders. The stock may face pressure as earnings per share nearly halved. However, positive operating cash flows of Rs 885 crore and the continuation of dividend payments provide some support.
