Kaveri Seed Company announced audited financial results for FY25. On a standalone basis, revenue from operations was around Rs. 1,12,157 lakhs, down from about Rs. 1,17,011 lakhs in FY24, a decline of roughly 4%. Standalone profit after tax stood at about Rs. 26,521 lakhs with basic EPS of Rs. 51.56 versus Rs. 52.54 in the previous year. The board also approved acquiring the remaining 30% stake in Aditya Agritech Private Limited, making it a 100% wholly owned subsidiary to streamline operations and expand market reach. Both the standalone and consolidated audit reports were issued with an unmodified opinion by M. Bhaskara Rao & Co. The company disclosed a new income tax demand of Rs. 6,958.75 lakhs for AY 2023-24 related to disallowance of agriculture income exemption, against which it has filed an appeal.
Results were broadly flat to slightly weaker year-on-year, with standalone revenue declining around 4% and PAT slipping marginally. Investors should note the going concern uncertainty flagged for one subsidiary and the sizeable Rs. 70 crore income tax demand, which are overhangs despite the clean audit opinion on the parent company.
