Ixigo received a GST show cause notice on September 29, 2026 from the Karnataka tax department for FY 2022-23. Authorities want GST charged at 18 percent instead of 5 percent on bus passenger transport. Total proposed demand is about Rs 23.8 crore (tax Rs 13.75 cr, interest Rs 8.67 cr, penalty Rs 1.38 cr). The company says it has a strong case and will contest. A similar notice for FY 2021-22 of about Rs 3.05 cr was previously dropped by the authority.
Near term overhang from Rs 23.8 cr tax demand. Company contests and has precedent of winning a similar case, but outcome remains uncertain.
