Magadh Sugar & Energy reported weak Q1 FY26 results, with revenue from operations falling about 7.3% year-on-year to ₹33,304 lakhs (from ₹35,939 lakhs in Q1 FY25). Net profit collapsed to just ₹22.24 lakhs from ₹1,142.52 lakhs in the same quarter last year, an over 98% drop, translating to EPS of ₹0.16 vs ₹8.11. The Sugar segment profit fell to ₹455.52 lakhs (from ₹1,040.36 lakhs) and the Distillery segment profit dropped to ₹1,179 lakhs (from ₹2,193 lakhs), while Co-generation posted a loss of ₹240 lakhs in this off-season quarter. No exceptional items were reported. The statutory auditor BSR & Co. LLP issued an unmodified limited review report, finding nothing to flag in the results.
Sharp profit erosion despite modest revenue decline points to significant margin compression, though Q1 is structurally a weak quarter for sugar companies as crushing is limited. Investors should watch for improvement in the upcoming quarters (Q2-Q3) when sugar sales and distillery volumes typically pick up.
