Maithan Alloys Limited bought 6,45,000 equity shares (0.01% stake) of Bank of India through the stock exchange on 12th March 2026 for a total consideration of Rs. 10.01 Crore in cash. The purchase was made purely as a long-term/short-term investment and the company clarified it has no intention to acquire control over Bank of India's management. The disclosure was filed under SEBI LODR regulations after a threshold limit was triggered. Bank of India is a large public sector bank with over 5,300 branches, Rs. 70,826 Crore turnover and Rs. 9,219 Crore profit in FY25. The acquisition is not a related party transaction and was done at arm's length.
This is a small treasury investment by Maithan Alloys in a PSU bank and is unlikely to have any meaningful impact on Maithan Alloys' stock price. Shareholders should note that the company is deploying cash into market investments outside its core ferro alloys business.
