Manappuram Finance's board, at its May 9, 2025 meeting, declared a second interim dividend of Rs. 0.50 per share (25% on face value of Rs. 2) for FY25, taking total interim dividends for the year to Rs. 1.50 per share. The board also approved audited Q4 and FY25 results, appointing M/s. KSR & Co as secretarial auditors for 5 years, and a Rs. 500 crore investment into subsidiary Asirvad Micro Finance via compulsory convertible preference shares. Consolidated FY25 total income rose to Rs. 10,074.94 crore (from Rs. 8,920.09 crore) but profit after tax fell sharply to Rs. 1,203.81 crore from Rs. 2,197.4 crore, dragged down by heavy losses in the microfinance segment (segment PBT of negative Rs. 811 crore). The gold loan business remained the mainstay with segment PBT of Rs. 2,476.64 crore. Audit reports carry an unmodified opinion but include an emphasis of matter on a Rs. 19.78 crore embezzlement by an employee of subsidiary MACOM and a previously imposed RBI restriction on Asirvad Micro Finance, which was lifted in January 2025.
The Rs. 0.50 dividend signals continued shareholder returns, but the steep drop in consolidated profits despite revenue growth highlights serious stress in the microfinance business. Investors should weigh the strong gold loan franchise against the ongoing drag from Asirvad Micro Finance and monitor recovery of the embezzlement amount. Near-term stock sentiment may be cautious given weak subsidiary performance and historical RBI scrutiny.
