Maruti Suzuki informed the exchanges that the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) has once again adjourned the hearing in the company's appeal against the Competition Commission of India's (CCI) final order dated 23rd August 2021. This matter has been repeatedly listed and adjourned by NCLAT since November 2021, when it had granted an interim stay on the CCI order against the company. The next hearing date will be notified by NCLAT in due course. The appeal challenge to the CCI penalty (originally imposed for alleged anti-competitive practices in the passenger vehicle market) remains pending and the interim protection continues.
No new development for shareholders — the matter is merely adjourned again. The interim stay on the CCI penalty remains in effect, so the financial impact of the penalty order continues to be deferred pending the final NCLAT ruling.
