On the reaction day the stock moved 0.1 pts less than Nifty 100 and 0.2 pts less than its Hospital peers, over the same two closes: a difference in percentage points, not a measure of what the filing did.

Alps Hospital Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Max Healthcare, received a show cause cum demand notice from GST Intelligence (Mumbai Zonal Unit) for alleged non-payment of GST on variable management fee. Alleged tax demand is about Rs 55.24 crore plus interest. Additional equal-amount penalty may apply under Sections 74(1), 74A(5)(ii) and 122(2)(b) of the CGST Act. Management is preparing to file submissions against the demand. Notice was received on August 25, 2026.
Show cause notice is not a final order; company plans to contest. Potential liability around Rs 166 crore (tax plus penalty) if upheld.
