The National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), Kolkata Bench has dismissed the insolvency petition (C.P.(IB)/229(KB)2024) filed by National Asset Reconstruction Company Limited (NARCL) against McLeod Russel India under Section 7 of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016. The petition was withdrawn after both parties agreed to a restructuring arrangement based on proposals dated 9th June 2026, as modified up to 22nd June 2026. NARCL retains the liberty to revive the petition if the agreed restructuring does not fructify. The NCLT order was passed on 14th July 2026 and uploaded on its website on 20th July 2026.
Positive for shareholders — the immediate threat of insolvency proceedings has been lifted, giving the company breathing room to implement the agreed debt restructuring with NARCL. However, the risk of insolvency revival remains if restructuring talks fail.
