MMP Industries reported Q1 FY26 standalone revenue from operations of ₹18,325.37 lakhs, up about 18% YoY from ₹15,551.19 lakhs in Q1 FY25. However, a major explosion and fire at the company's Umred Plant (Nagpur) on April 11, 2025 led to an exceptional loss of ₹1,728.91 lakhs, pushing standalone Profit After Tax into the red at ₹(698.79) lakhs versus a profit of ₹987.53 lakhs in Q1 FY25. Excluding the exceptional item, Profit Before Tax was ₹800.68 lakhs, down from ₹1,323.44 lakhs a year ago, indicating underlying margin pressure. On the consolidated basis, PAT stood at ₹(541.14) lakhs after absorbing a share of profit of ₹175.71 lakhs from associates. The statutory auditor (Manish N Jain & Co.) issued an unmodified limited review report on both sets of results. The Board also approved the appointment of M/s. Vaibhav Jachak as the new Statutory Auditor for 5 years from FY 2025-26, accepted the resignation of Independent Director Mr. Karan Varma, and appointed two new directors. An insurance claim has been filed in respect of the Umred fire losses.
The plant fire turned an otherwise operating-profitable quarter into a reported net loss, which is likely to weigh on the stock in the near term; however, an insurance claim has been filed and any recovery could be a positive catalyst later. Underlying operating margins have also compressed meaningfully YoY, warranting close watch on the Aluminium Foil and Conductor segments that drove top-line growth. The mid-year statutory auditor change and board refresh add a layer of governance transition to monitor.
