MMTC Ltd reported its Q1 FY26 results, with standalone revenue from operations rising to Rs 1.36 crore from Rs 0.65 crore in Q1 FY25, more than doubling year-on-year. Standalone net profit after tax grew to Rs 36.67 crore from Rs 31.61 crore, while consolidated PAT jumped to Rs 44.26 crore from Rs 32.69 crore, a ~35% rise driven by a healthy share of profits from joint ventures (Rs 7.59 crore). However, total income fell sharply to Rs 71.56 crore from Rs 138.75 crore due to lower other income, which includes investment-related returns. The auditor flagged several ongoing legal matters, including the Anglo Coal case where Rs 1,088.62 crore is deposited with the Delhi High Court and the NINL divestment warranty where MMTC's maximum exposure could be Rs 1,067 crore. MMTC also received Rs 411.76 crore principal plus Rs 25.75 crore interest from the matured NINL escrow account in July 2025.
Operational revenue growth is encouraging but headline profit is supported by joint venture share and one-off escrow inflows rather than core trading activity. The Anglo Coal and NINL contingencies remain large overhangs; any adverse court ruling in the Supreme Court hearing on 29 August 2025 could materially impact the stock.
