Modern Shares & Stockbrokers reported its Q1 FY26 results on August 7, 2025. Total income from operations rose to Rs. 99.05 lakhs from Rs. 89.27 lakhs in the same quarter last year, an increase of about 11%. Profit before tax nearly doubled to Rs. 19.35 lakhs (vs Rs. 10.57 lakhs), while net profit for the quarter jumped to Rs. 14.90 lakhs from Rs. 8.25 lakhs, a growth of around 81% year-on-year. Sequentially, the company swung from a net loss of Rs. 4.85 lakhs in Q4 FY25 to a healthy profit this quarter. EPS stood at Rs. 0.46 versus Rs. 0.32 in Q1 FY25. Brokerage and commission income remained the largest revenue contributor at Rs. 73.65 lakhs. Statutory auditors B D G & Co LLP issued an unmodified review opinion on the results. A pending legal suit against Bata India Limited relating to mesne profits was also disclosed, with the matter still before the Bombay High Court.
Strong sequential recovery and robust YoY profit growth signal improved operational performance, likely to be viewed positively by shareholders. The pending Bata India litigation remains a key watchpoint but no new financial exposure has been quantified.
