Motilal Oswal Alternates (MO Alts), the wholly-owned alternative investment arm of Motilal Oswal Financial Services, has completed the first close of its maiden private credit fund called India Credit Excellence Fund at INR 1,700 crore, including INR 200 crore from its sponsor and affiliates. The fund, launched in January 2026, targets a total corpus of INR 3,000 crore (including a green shoe option of INR 1,500 crore), with the final close expected soon. The fund will focus on secured lending to mid-market businesses that need flexible, non-dilutive capital. MO Alts, marking its 20th anniversary, has cumulatively raised over INR 23,000 crore across 11 funds and manages around INR 28,000 crore in assets. It also recently closed its fifth and largest private equity fund at INR 8,500 crore.
This is a positive development showcasing the growth of MOFSL's alternatives business and its ability to attract institutional capital. It strengthens the subsidiary's revenue diversification beyond traditional broking and signals confidence in India's growing private credit market, potentially supporting long-term earnings growth for shareholders.
