National General Industries Ltd reported weak Q1 FY26 results with net sales falling sharply to Rs. 161.74 lakhs from Rs. 261.40 lakhs in the same quarter last year, a drop of about 38% year-on-year. Total income from operations stood at Rs. 196.86 lakhs versus Rs. 314.95 lakhs in Q1 FY25. Total expenses of Rs. 224.11 lakhs exceeded total income, pushing the company into an operating loss of Rs. 27.26 lakhs and a net loss of Rs. 25.23 lakhs, compared to a net profit of Rs. 16.96 lakhs a year ago. Basic EPS turned negative at Rs. (0.53) versus Rs. 0.38 previously. The Steel segment was the main drag, with segment results swinging to a loss of Rs. 26.64 lakhs from a profit of Rs. 18.24 lakhs. The statutory auditor R.K. Govil & Co. issued a clean limited review report with no qualifications.
Sharp revenue decline and a swing into loss point to weak operational performance and could put pressure on the stock. Existing shareholders should monitor the next few quarters for signs of recovery in steel demand and cost control.
