NDTV has informed the stock exchanges that the Delhi High Court, by an order dated August 18, 2025, has quashed the Enforcement Case Investigation Report (ECIR) dated August 7, 2017, which the Directorate of Enforcement had registered against the company and certain other persons. This development follows earlier disclosures from June-July 2017 and January 2025, when the CBI had already filed a closure report (accepted by the Rouse Avenue Court) finding no criminality against any of the accused. The Writ Petition challenging the ECIR had been filed by promoter entity RRPR Holding Private Limited and others. The High Court's quashing of the ECIR lifts a significant legal cloud over NDTV, though the ED retains the liberty to revive the ECIR if the CBI closure report is set aside by a superior court.
Positive for NDTV shareholders as it removes a long-pending 2017 enforcement overhang, but the conditional liberty to the ED means the matter could reopen if the earlier CBI closure report is overturned on appeal.
