On the reaction day the stock moved 0.2 pts less than Nifty 100 and 0.7 pts less than its Packaged Foods peers, over the same two closes: a difference in percentage points, not a measure of what the filing did.

Nestle India received an adjudication order from the Principal Commissioner of Customs at Delhi Air Cargo demanding customs duty of about Rs 2.47 crore along with applicable interest, and an equal penalty of about Rs 2.47 crore (100 percent of duty) under Section 28(4) of the Customs Act, 1962. The company states there is no material impact on its financials or operations and will explore options to challenge the order.
Total exposure of around Rs 4.93 crore is small for Nestle India and management sees no material hit; outcome of challenge may matter later.
