ONGC reported a standalone net profit of Rs. 35,610 crore for FY25, down 12.1% from Rs. 40,526 crore in FY24, while consolidated net profit fell 30.7% to Rs. 38,329 crore. Standalone revenue declined marginally by 0.4% to Rs. 1,37,846 crore, though consolidated revenue grew 1.5% to Rs. 6,63,262 crore, weighed down by lower crude oil realisations (down 4.8% to Rs. 6,503/bbl) and a sharp Q4 PAT drop of 34.7%. The Board declared a final dividend of 25% (Rs. 1.25/share), taking the total FY25 dividend payout to a record Rs. 15,411 crore (245%). Crude oil production rose 0.9% to 18.558 MMT, capex surged to ~Rs. 62,000 crore from Rs. 37,494 crore, and ONGC drilled 578 wells — the highest in 35 years — with 9 new discoveries, 8 of which were monetised.
Despite a double-digit profit decline due to lower crude realisations, shareholders benefit from the highest-ever dividend payout of Rs. 15,411 crore, providing strong income support. The sharp jump in capex and record drilling signal aggressive growth investment, which may pressure near-term returns but supports long-term production and reserve replacement.
