On the reaction day the stock moved 4.1 pts less than Nifty Midcap 150 and 4.1 pts less than its Financial Technology (Fintech) peers, over the same two closes: a difference in percentage points, not a measure of what the filing did.
Minute windows have no benchmark: there is no intraday index history to compare against.
Q2 consolidated revenue rose 28% to Rs 2,648 crore, while profit after tax jumped to Rs 225 crore from Rs 21 crore a year ago. NPCI's proposed 0.4% merchant discount rate on selected payments above Rs 2,000 could lift Paytm's payment margin by about 2.5 basis points over 2-3 quarters. The board approved up to Rs 500 crore each for Paytm Cloud and Paytm Singapore. Auditors also flagged unresolved FEMA allegations involving about Rs 611 crore.
Earnings may benefit from higher payment margins, but unresolved FEMA exposure and up to Rs 1,000 crore of subsidiary funding could weigh on sentiment.
