Orient Green Power has lost its appeal before the Delhi High Court in a long-running dispute with SM Milkose Limited related to a 2008 MoU for biomass power projects. The original arbitral award from August 2016, which was unfavorable to the company, has been upheld by the court on November 27, 2025. The total claim in this matter is around Rs. 6.5 crore, of which Rs. 3.33 crore was already provisioned in the books. An additional Rs. 3.17 crore will be booked as a provision in the current quarter. The company has said it is evaluating further legal options as advised by its counsel.
This is a negative development for shareholders — the company has lost on both the arbitration and appeal, and will need to absorb an additional ~Rs. 3.17 crore hit this quarter. While the absolute amount is not large, it reflects an adverse legal outcome and may pressure near-term earnings, though the company still has the option to pursue further remedies.
