The Ramco Cements has resolved a tax dispute worth Rs. 0.84 Crores related to the disallowance of CENVAT credit on outward freight. The company's appeal before CESTAT (Customs, Excise and Service Tax Appellate Tribunal) was remanded back to the original authority, the Assistant Commissioner of GST and Central Excise in Tiruchirapalli, in October 2024. On 31 March 2025, the original authority dropped the further proceedings, effectively ending the matter in the company's favour. As a result, similar pending disputes with other statutory authorities have come down from Rs. 10.48 Crores to Rs. 9.64 Crores.
This is a small but positive development for shareholders — a tax liability of Rs. 0.84 Crores has been cleared and the overall disputed amount has reduced, slightly easing contingent liability concerns.
