Patanjali Foods has informed exchanges that a penalty of Rs. 19.66 lakh and a redemption fine of Rs. 7.56 lakh have been imposed by the Office of the Commissioner of Customs (Exports), CBEC Mumbai Zone-1. The order, dated June 13, 2025 and received on July 1, 2025, relates to alleged non-compliance with the Customs Act, 1962. The matter pertains to M/s. Ruchi Health Foods Limited, which merged with Patanjali Foods in 2006, and is from a period before the Patanjali Group acquired the company under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016. The company has stated it will challenge the order at an appropriate forum.
The total financial impact is small (around Rs. 27 lakh) and the company says there is no material impact on its finances or operations. Shareholders are unlikely to see any meaningful effect on the stock, though the dispute will need to be tracked as it moves through appeal.
