Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) Limited has informed exchanges that the Supreme Court has dismissed its Writ Petition seeking waiver of interest, penalty, and interest on penalty that form part of its AGR (Adjusted Gross Revenue) dues payable to the Department of Telecommunications (DoT). The petition was filed on May 17, 2025 along with two other telecom operators, after the company's earlier Review Petition (Civil) No. 1022/2021 against the Supreme Court's July 23, 2021 order was also dismissed. The Supreme Court issued the dismissal order on May 19, 2025, which the company received on May 21, 2025. This development closes another legal avenue the company was pursuing to reduce its AGR-related financial liability. The AGR matter has been a long-pending issue for the company and the broader telecom sector.
