India Ratings and Research (Ind-Ra) has assigned the highest safety rating of 'IND AAA' with a Stable outlook to PNB Housing Finance's additional bank loans of INR 50 billion. The agency has also affirmed the existing IND AAA/Stable ratings on bank loan facilities worth INR 65 billion and non-convertible debentures worth INR 49.55 billion. The rating action is supported by expected timely liquidity and capital support from promoter Punjab National Bank (which holds a 28% stake). PNB Housing Finance reported assets under management of INR 839 billion as of September 2025, return on assets of 2.76%, and gross NPAs at a low 1.04%. The affordable housing portfolio's performance remains a key monitorable given its nascent stage.
This is a positive signal for shareholders — affirmation at the highest AAA rating reflects strong financial health and continued parental support from Punjab National Bank. The ability to raise an additional INR 50 billion in bank loans at top-tier rating supports future growth at competitive borrowing costs, which should benefit profitability.
