Uniply Industries, currently under liquidation, held its 17th Stakeholders Consultation Committee meeting chaired by the Liquidator. The committee discussed the failed e-auction of its intangible brand 'UNIPLY', marking the sixth consecutive unsuccessful auction attempt (including 28 other brands). A third party, Mr. Rajesh Gupta, has registered the trademark 'UNIPLY GOLD CLUB', prompting the SCC to plan a legal notice and a Rectification Suit before the High Court. The e-auction of the brand has been put on hold until the suit is decided. The committee also identified agricultural land in Tirunelveli and reviewed the company's bank balance to approve liquidation expenses.
The repeated failure to sell the company's primary brand asset signals weak asset value recovery, which is negative for shareholders who stand last in the liquidation payout waterfall after creditors. Ongoing legal disputes and further delays are likely to reduce any residual value available to equity holders.
