PowerGrid announced its Q1 FY26 (quarter ended 30 June 2025) unaudited results. On a standalone basis, revenue from operations dipped slightly to Rs 9,928 crore (vs Rs 10,068 crore in Q1 FY25), though total income rose ~3.7% to Rs 11,257 crore on strong other income. Standalone profit after tax grew ~7% YoY to Rs 3,653 crore, with EPS at Rs 3.93 (vs Rs 3.67). On a consolidated basis, revenue was Rs 11,196 crore and PAT was Rs 3,631 crore, marginally lower YoY. The board also approved raising the FY26 borrowing limit to Rs 25,000 crore (from Rs 16,000 crore) and a plan to raise up to Rs 30,000 crore in FY27 via domestic bonds. Additional approvals include forming two joint ventures with Nepal Electricity Authority for cross-border 400 kV transmission lines and exiting the Parbati Koldam Transmission JV with India Grid Trust.
Modest earnings growth with strong other income offsetting a slight decline in core transmission revenue; expanded borrowing capacity signals continued capex plans for transmission infrastructure, while the Nepal JV opens a cross-border growth avenue. Overall neutral-to-mildly-positive for shareholders, supported by the regulated, stable nature of the transmission business.
