Prakash Industries Limited announced its Q1 FY26 (quarter ended June 30, 2025) unaudited financial results. Net sales stood at Rs. 1,037 crores, down from Rs. 1,167 crores in the same quarter last year, an approximate 11% year-on-year decline. However, operating profit rose to Rs. 138 crores from Rs. 132 crores, with operating margins improving to 13% from 11% on better cost management. Profit after tax increased marginally to Rs. 91 crores (EPS of Rs. 5.10) from Rs. 90 crores (EPS Rs. 5.05). The company also extracted 2.82 lakh MT of coal from its Bhaskarpara mine and targets over 1 million tonnes this financial year. The board approved continuation of Chairman Ved Prakash Agarwal (turning 70) and Non-executive Director Dr. Satish Chander Gosain.
Mixed signals for shareholders: while top-line declined year-on-year, improved operating margins and stable profits show operational efficiency. Investors should note the auditor's specific observation on the Rs. 569.82 lakh deferred tax adjustment against Securities Premium, which artificially boosts reported net profit.
