Prism Johnson reported Q1 FY26 standalone net sales of Rs 1,762.77 crore, up about 8% YoY from Rs 1,630.05 crore. Standalone net profit came in at Rs 8.32 crore versus a small loss of Rs 0.47 crore in Q1 FY25, with EPS of Rs 0.17. Consolidated net sales rose to Rs 1,895.37 crore and the company swung to a profit of Rs 2.54 crore (after minority interest) from a Rs 7.70 crore loss a year ago. The Cement segment led the recovery with segment profit of Rs 74.28 crore (vs Rs 49.74 crore), while HRJ tiles and RMC divisions remained in the red. Operating margin improved to 9.22% on a standalone basis (from 8.33%) and debt-equity ratio eased to 0.56 from 0.80, supported by lower finance costs.
A return to profit and improving operating margins are positive for shareholders, though weak HRJ and RMC segments and the loss of the ReNew associate (now headed to arbitration) are watchpoints. Near-term stock reaction may be modestly positive given the margin recovery and debt reduction.
