RailTel reported strong FY25 results with revenue from operations rising about 35% year-on-year to Rs. 3,477.5 crore, up from Rs. 2,567.8 crore in FY24. Profit after tax grew nearly 22% to Rs. 299.8 crore from Rs. 246.2 crore, lifting EPS to Rs. 9.34 from Rs. 7.67. Q4 FY25 was particularly strong, with revenue up about 57% YoY at Rs. 1,308 crore and PAT up about 46% at Rs. 113.5 crore. Growth was led by the Project Work Services segment, which jumped around 62% YoY, while the Telecom Services segment grew a modest 8%. Operating cash flow, however, fell sharply to Rs. 255 crore from Rs. 556 crore due to higher working capital requirements. Statutory auditor M/s Lunawat & Co. issued an unmodified (clean) opinion, but flagged that the company has only one independent director and no woman director on its board, both non-compliances with the Companies Act.
The sharp revenue and earnings growth is a positive for shareholders, though the dip in operating cash flow and compressed margins (profit before tax margin slipped to about 11.3% from 12.5%) suggest rising project-related costs. Board composition non-compliances may invite regulatory scrutiny but are unlikely to affect near-term business performance.
