RBL Bank has received a favorable order from the Assistant Commissioner of State Tax, Mumbai, dated March 24, 2026, withdrawing the entire GST demand of ₹92,00,23,536 (approximately ₹92 crores, inclusive of interest and penalty) that was proposed in a show cause notice issued on October 1, 2025 for the financial year 2019-20 under the Maharashtra GST Act, 2017. The withdrawal was granted under Section 74 of the Act, fully closing the proceedings in the bank's favor. This brings to an end a tax dispute that had been hanging over the bank since late 2025. The disclosure has been made under SEBI Listing Regulations and uploaded on the bank's website.
This is a positive development for RBL Bank shareholders as a potential ~₹92 crore tax liability (including interest and penalty) has been fully removed, which removes a contingent liability overhang and supports cleaner financials. The closure of the matter eliminates uncertainty and may have a mildly positive sentiment effect on the stock.
