In a positive development, MMRDA has deposited Rs. 560.21 crore with the Bombay High Court registry, representing 50% of the arbitration award amount of approximately Rs. 1,169 crore, in favor of MMOPL — a subsidiary where Reliance Infrastructure holds a 74% stake. This follows the Supreme Court's order in a Special Leave Petition filed by MMRDA, which directed deposit of 50% of the award (instead of the full amount as earlier ordered by the Bombay High Court on June 10, 2025). The arbitration award was originally in favor of MMOPL. With 50% of the award now deposited, Reliance Infrastructure stands to recover a significant portion of the dues through its subsidiary. The remaining 50% deposit outcome is pending.
Positive for Reliance Infrastructure shareholders — partial recovery of the arbitration award is now secured, improving cash flow visibility for the company. The full financial benefit will depend on the final outcome of the Supreme Court proceedings and release of the deposited funds.
