Reliance Power Limited reported a consolidated net loss of Rs 33,689 lakhs for FY26 ended March 31, 2026, compared to a profit of Rs 2,94,783 lakhs in FY25. Revenue from operations marginally increased to Rs 7,61,971 lakhs from Rs 7,58,289 lakhs. The auditors issued a qualified opinion due to going concern doubts at subsidiary level (RSTEPL, SMPL, DSPL) and recoverability issues. An exceptional impairment charge of Rs 38,160 lakhs was recognized for RSTEPL's solar assets. The Board approved appointment of Dr. Avinash Gupta as Independent Director and appointed Kailash Chand Jain & Co. as new statutory auditors. Additionally, the Board sought shareholder approval to raise up to Rs 6,000 crore via equity issuance and Rs 3,000 crore via NCDs. Post-year, lender of subsidiary SMPL initiated CIRP under IBC against the Parent Company, and SEBI ordered a forensic audit.
The stock faces significant headwinds due to the large net loss, qualified audit opinion highlighting subsidiary-level going concern issues, ongoing ED investigations, and SEBI forensic audit. The Rs 9,000 crore fund raising authorization provides financial flexibility but also potential equity dilution. The CIRP initiation against the Parent Company is a major concern.
