Reliance Power informed the exchanges that the Delhi High Court has directed Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) not to take any coercive action against its subsidiary, Reliance NU Suntech Private Limited, in connection with a Show Cause Notice (SCN) dated July 1, 2025 that sought termination of their Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). Reliance NU Suntech had bid for a 2000 MW solar PV project with 4000 MWh energy storage, furnished a Rs. 378 crore Performance Bank Guarantee, and signed the PPA on April 30, 2025. The SCN was linked to alleged issues with a forged bank guarantee involving a different subsidiary (Reliance NU BESS), whose debarment was previously stayed and later withdrawn in December 2024. The court found that, on a prima facie basis, the clauses cited do not require the subsidiary to declare transgressions of its affiliates, and listed the matter for further hearing on September 17, 2025.
Positive near-term for the stock — the stay prevents immediate termination of a Rs. 378 crore-backed PPA and shields the subsidiary from coercive action, but the underlying dispute and next hearing in September 2025 remain key overhangs.
